Emily Gibson - Counsellor in Cardiff

I am trained as a Counsellor using a Humanistic and Integrative approach.  This means that I can blend different philosophies and theoretical models to suit you as an individual.  It also means that I have a flexible approach, being able to use those different models of counselling to suit your individual needs, to help you to work towards the results that you want to achieve, even if at this stage you don’t know what that is yet.  Models of counselling that I may draw upon are TA, Gestalt and CBT to name a few.

I have a background in Psychology, having gained an Honours degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice.  My interest in counselling comes from the fact that I truly believe that every individual has inside them the capacity for change.  It can be extremely difficult to do that alone, in a world which is moving so quickly and where we might find there is little time for inner reflection, which is why counselling may be able to help.  Having the space to fully explore ones inner world, in the safety of the therapeutic environment with a counsellor who is accepting of you fully, in a non-judgemental, compassionate way can really help to bring about those changes.

I have experience in working with issues such as bereavement, loss and grief, depression, fertility, abortion, anxiety, body image anxieties, anger, bullying, cancer, relationship issues, self-esteem and self-harm to name a few.

The above list is illustrative of recent client issues that I have worked with.  I would be happy to meet with you to discuss these or any other issues that you might have or that you feel are holding you back from reaching your full potential.

I am a Registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and fully embrace their ethical framework within my practice.
